Vinted Members Express Anger Over Size Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has revised its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes without notifying every member regarding the update.
Social Media Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a different size category than originally posted due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Changes
Before the change, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Member Stories
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, located in England, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options after backlash from users.
